Pep Guardiola has apologised for Jack Grealish ‘s lack of playing time this season. City
often reshuffle their line-ups but Grealish has played just 12 times, or 1,198 minutes, this season. Grealish
‘s playing time has been reduced by competition from the likes of Jeremy Doku and Savinho on the wing.

“I’m really sorry he hasn’t had the chances they probably deserved,” Guardiola said.
“But at the end of the year, Doku and Savinho have been very good this season, that’s the only reason. Nothing personal. It’s not because I don’t like Jack or don’t believe in him.
Savinho’s arrival has reduced Grealish’s chances further, with the Brazilian winger’s stats less than stellar, scoring one goal and providing six assists in 19 games, but his offensive contributions and defensive work ethic have caught his eye. And
while Guardiola remains aware of Grealish’s threat, Savinho will be given the go-ahead because of his form.
“If you give one player more chances than the other then obviously you believe in him more than the other. But I know his quality. It’s about the impact Savinho makes. “
This is Savinho’s first season. The impact he makes in terms of goals and assists has improved the defence incredibly, and the tackling like in the game against Arsenal last time out has been incredible, and there’s that reason.” Grealish has
made 148 appearances for City since joining in 2021, scoring 16 goals and providing 23 assists.
